FAQ - SENCO Manager

Q

I get an error message when I open SENCO Manager for the first time

A
Close SENCO Manager. Put the installation CD in the machine and click on the 'Update system files' button on the 'Welcome' screen then follow the instructions. Alternatively click here to download the fix.

Q

In Windows Vista I have a message warning me of a "Potential security threat" when I open SENCO Manager 7 for the first time after installing it.

A
Please be assured that there is absolutely no security threat posed by SENCO Manager and that this message is caused by a Microsoft-acknowledged “bug” in Windows Vista. You will not see the message again unless you login as a different user in which case again, you will see the message once only.

Q
I get an error message when I try to import from the Common Transfer File.
A

If you have problems importing from your CTF, getting an error message every time you try, this may be because your computer does not yet have the latest Microsoft Windows ® updates installed. In the meantime, we recommend that you Click here to download and install Microsoft's MSXML4 which will allow you to import from your CTF.

Q
Our school has upgraded to SIMS.Net. What is the procedure for creating a Common Transfer File?
A

The only difference in the procedure with SIMS.Net is that you no longer need to create a dummy destination school. Just follow the procedure for creating a CTF when a pupil leaves your school but select all the pupils in the school or the required pupils and then set the destination LEA as "ENGLAND".

If you need further help with CTF in SIMS.Net, please call us on 0845 402 9918 and we can email you more detailed instructions.

Q
"There is no Group EP to preview or print" - what does this mean?
A
At least one target should be selected for the Group and at least one main area of concern.
